Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros Book Club Discussion Questions

1. We are somewhat new fantasy girlies… how do you think this books compares to other fantasies? They are hyping it up as the next Harry Potter. What do you think about that?

2. We get a brief overview on Violet’s dysfunctional family… What do you think is the deal with her mom? Is there something we don’t know yet? What did you think of the family dynamic?

3. Thoughts on Violet as an underdog protagonist? She wanted to be a scribe but was pushed to be a rider. Should she have followed her dreams instead of letting what others wanted her to be?

4. Violet is faced with the anxiety of entering a school where so many people want to kill you because of who you’re related to. Do you believe it’s fair for Violet to be hunted because of her mother’s actions? Do you think it was fair for all the rebellion children to be treated how they were?

5. Would you have guessed in a million years Violet matched with not only the strongest dragon, but then two dragons?

6. Violet has a few suitors throughout the book and eventually ends up with Xaden. What were your initial thoughts on their relationship? Did you imagine that it would evolve like it did?

7. Xaden is a whole topic himself. Were you surprised he is leading a rebellion?

8. Let’s talk about the spice. How did you like it? What did you think?

9. The character names in this book threw me! Some were crazy and some completely normal. I feel like this plays into the writing style. What did you think of this?

10. Dain was very dedicated to the codex and following rules. Do you find yourself to be more of a rule follower or do you lead with you own compass?

11. What do you think about Dain sending Xaden and Violet into the trap and betraying Violet?

12. There was a lot of death in this book… was there a specific scene that was harder to read than others?

13. THE END! So what.. was Brennan’s death staged?!
