Tracie’s Version

Mexico, 1950’s- A Mexico City party girl, Noemi, get’s a frantic letter from her dearest cousin. Her cousin had just been married and moved a few towns away with her new husband. Noemi decides to drop everything and pay her a visit.

What she finds is unlike anything she ever expected. When she gets to the family’s home (The High Place) things start going sideways and Naomi goes from a chic city girl, to a gritty heroine.

Naomi is forced to fight not only for her life, her family and her love.

I wanted to love this book so bad. I love the cover. I love Mexican culture, especially in this era but this book and I did not vibe.

It actually sent me into a reading slump.

The writing bore me and I feel like this story line had such potential but it just wasn’t it.

The cover gets 5/5 stars but the book 2.5…

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
