I liked one of this authors other books, “In Five Years”, so I was super excited to pick this book up, but it just didn’t quite do it for me.

I’ll start with what I liked about it! I loved the imagery and how the author transports us right to Positano, Italy with her beautiful descriptions of the landscape and wonderful food and clothing. It 100% gave me travel envy! I now need to visit Italy at least once in my lifetime.

I also really liked that the story was about a positive mother/daughter relationship. But that also leads me to what I didn’t really like…

It felt like the main character, Katy, didn’t have an identity other than being her mothers daughter. Before her mother passed away, they were supposed to on a trip to Positano and once she passed, Katy decided to go solo. When she learned something her mom did in her past, she felt like she didn’t really know who her mom was. But to me, it wasn’t that terrible what her mom did, but it shifted Katy’s whole view of her mother.

I also wasn’t a huge fan of the time travel aspect of the book or the way she treated her husband who did nothing wrong. Katy was very immature to me, and it felt like she was allowed to do crappy things as an excuse to “find herself”.

Overall, I was kind of disappointed in this book. If you’ve read this, how did you feel?! Do you agree or am I in the minority?

I gave this 3/5 ⭐️’s!
