Tracie’s Version
This book gets a ton of hype on bookstagram and now I understand why!
Theo is a psychotherapist who is on a mission to get Alicia, a famous painter, as his patient. After murdering her husband, she is sent to a psychiatric facility where she remains silent. Theo’s mission is to get her to tell him her story and while on this mission, he unravels some some secrets of his own.
The parallel stories that are told in this novel and how they intersect were just amazing. It was clever, compelling, and had the perfect twist. The ending was a DOOZIE.
I enjoyed reading from both Theo and Alicia’s point of view and getting a peak into Alicia’s diary to get to know her character better.
There were so many characters and events that are thrown in to shake it up and get your off the track of what really unravels- and I love that!
I highly recommend! This was a great debut novel and am looking to reading more from Alex Michaelides.
“About love. About how we often mistake love for fireworks – for drama and dysfunction. But, real love is very quiet, very still. It’s boring, if seen from a perspective of high drama. Love is deep and calm – and constant.”
