This was such a great book! January has been a really good month of reading for me. Most of the books I read have been 4 or 5 stars ✨ Hopefully I can keep this trend going next month!
This book was set around the outskirts of London and right away it jumps into the night Tallulah and her live-in boyfriend, Zach, disappear after attending a party at a classmates estate. The next morning after realizing Tallulah is not coming home, her mother Kim contacts the police and files a missing persons report. But nobody seems as concerned as she does – not even Zach’s parents! Everyone just assumes Tallulah and Zach just wanted to blow off their parenting responsibilities.
Eventually, the case runs cold. That is until a year later, the head teacher at a nearby boarding school moves in with his girlfriend on campus, who happens to be an author of a detective series. Intrigued by a planted clue, Sophie involves herself in the case and the details of Tallulah’s life.
The book rotates between three points of view: Tallulah, Kim, and Sophie. Lisa Jewell does a fantastic job making these into well rounded characters. I couldn’t help but get super wrapped up into this book through her writing.
This book also moves back and forth between the “before” and the “after” which was sometimes hard to keep up with as they got closer together, but the ending wrapped all the timelines up.
I slowly began to predict the ending of the book, but I was still so surprised by every twist and turn Lisa Jewell planted.
This book was such a serious treat and I definitely plan to read more of her books in the future! ❤️
This gets a 5/5 ⭐️’s from me!
